Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to sweep the opponent starting from the open guard and using an x guard. Lucas starts with the open guard controlling the sleeves and placing his feet on the opponent’s biceps for the spider guard. He unbalances the opponent by moving him around. Lucas then removes one foot from the arm and uses it to post on the mat, making the opponent step forward and get closer. He immediately hooks the near side leg with his arm. The foot that was used to post on the mat is now brought in to hook the inside of the same side leg. Lucas then releases the grip on the other collar and hooks his foot on the same side leg, while also gripping the bottom with his hand. He tries to push the opponent back but the opponent grips the collar to defend. Lucas removes the arm that was around the leg and now grips the bottom outside of the pants. At the same time, he moves both feet to the center under the belt. Lucas now lifts the opponent up like an overhead sweep to make them post on the mat with both hands. Once the opponent posts, Lucas picks a side and turns in that direction to finish the sweep.
