Professor Lucas Lepri shows how to counter an opponent’s berimbolo when they have a modified de la riva. The opponent starts by controlling Lucas’ leg using a de la riva hook on the leg, while also under hooking the leg on the same side. Lucas starts to fall to the side and the opponent starts to invert to go for a berimbolo. Lucas spins with the opponent and ends up in a leg drag position. He now secures the opponent by controlling the hips. Lucas now pulls the opponent up and brings one leg up. This creates enough space for Lucas to slide his knee in and pass to the side control.
