Professor Lucas Leprin talks about passing the half guard and concepts. Lucas starts in the opponent’s half guard and explains how this position can be used to pass the guard of a tough opponent. By getting in the opponent’s half guard, Lucas can then work on passing to the side control or mount. Lucas talks about the importance of isolating the opponent’s arm once they use it to frame. He uses his head on the mat to help him isolate the arm. With the arm isolated, Lucas can then work on sliding his legs out of the opponent’s half guard. Depending on the opponent’s reaction, Lucas can get to the side control or the mount control.
