Description

Professor André Gois teaches how to sweep the opponent after pulling guard and going to the De La Riva. Andre and the opponent are both standing. André is controlling the collar and the sleeve, he lightly steps to the side and pulls guard. As soon as he pulls guard, he circles his foot behind the opponents, near side, leg and hooks it. The grip that was on the arm is now slid down to grip near the hand and the grip that was on the collar is now moved to grip the bottom of the pants on the de la riva side. André starts to sweep by placing his other foot on the hip. He pushes on the hip and uses the de la riva side leg to post on the Mat. As André is pushing the leg, he also pulls the arm in to sweep the opponent over. Once the opponent is swept, André uses his foot to push on the hip also. From here, André then moves into the cycle control position.
