Professor André Gois teaches how to get head and arm choke starting from side control. Professor André starts with the opponent in his side control. He makes sure to stay tight on the opponent to not give them space to escape. He keeps pressure over the shoulder and slightly leans forward so he can slide his bottom side knee over the opponent. As soon as André starts sliding his knee over the opponent, the opponent reacts by attempting to push the knee off. André takes advantage of this opportunity to isolate the opponent's arm. He does this by crawling his own arm underneath the opponents until he elevates it. André now completes the transition to the mount control with the opponent’s arm isolated. He now starts pushing the opponent's arm across the neck. Once he accomplishes this, he slides out of the mount to the side with one knee near the opponents waist, and the other leg posting out the mat. He squeezes everything together and is able to get the head and arm choke on the opponent.
