Professor Lucas Lepri shows a variation on how to counter a butterfly sweep attempt. The opponent has the butterfly guard and is controlling Lucas. In this variation, the opponent is controlling Lucas by reaching the belt over Lucas’ shoulder. This limits Lucas’ ability to pass. He does so by shifting this base to the side of the arm that is over the shoulder. Lucas uses his hands to push the opponent’s legs down so he can fully get to the side. From here, Lucas can stay on the side control or also mount the opponent.
