Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to transition to the x guard from the closed guard and how to sweep the opponent. Lucas has the opponent in his closed guard. The opponent starts to stand up to try to start opening the guard. Lucas controls the collar and under hooks the leg. As he does so, he slightly turns his body to the side so he can open his guard and slide his legs down. He uses his feet to hook the waist and the far side leg. This allows Lucas to push the opponent away, so he can then switch his hooks to the X guard. Once in the x guard, the opponent reaches back to grip the collar. Lucas breaks the collar grip and controls the arm preventing the opponent from reestablishing the grip. When the opponent reattempts to grip Lucas’ collar, Lucas pushes the arm in and tucks in between the legs. This removes the opponent’s ability to post. With the arm in, Lucas uses his hooks to sweep the opponent over.
