Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to take the opponent’s back, using the sit up guard. Lucas starts with the de la riva. He explains how to push the opponent and use the grip on the sleeve to help him come up. As he comes up to the sit up guard, in this scenario, Lucas is not able to grip the collar with the hand under the leg. He instead controls the sleeve of the far side arm. He then also controls that same side collar. He pushes on the opponent’s far side leg in an attempt to sweep, but the opponent defends by coming in. Lucas moves back as the opponent is coming in, and hooks the foot with his own. This allows Lucas to lift the opponent’s leg, then pulls it down, making the opponent fall. From here, Lucas is now able to take the opponent’s back control.
