Professor Edson Oliveira demonstrates a variation of the De La Riva guard attack. The main difference from the previous technique is the outcome. Instead of focusing on a sweep or leg drag, Edson shows how to use the lapel grip and hooks to simply come up to a standing position to secure points. This is done when the opponent's weight is too far back. The lapel grip on the opponent's leg is used to trap them, making it difficult for them to defend the stand up.
