Countering the Shin to Shin to Pass to Knee Cut to Armbar or Kimura (Advanced)

Description

Professor Lucas Lepri demonstrates how to pass the shin to shin guard by preventing the opponent from getting underneath. The technique starts by holding the opponent's back or neck and establishing an underhook. This prevents the opponent from turning to the side to set up a leg lock or X guard. Lucas places a hand on the mat for base and uses a hook to circle around the opponent's leg. He then transitions to a knee cut by transferring his weight and creating space. An alternative is shown when the opponent blocks the cross face. Lucas uses his forearm on the neck to create pressure and then pushes the opponent's knee to pass. This setup also creates opportunities for other submissions like a Kimura or armbar.
