Reverse De La Riva Sweep Attempt to Technical Stand Up to Back Control (Intermediate)

Professor Lucas Lepri demonstrates a counter to the opponent's defense when attempting a sweep from Reverse De La Riva guard. When the opponent successfully blocks the initial sweep and tries to create distance, Lucas immediately adjusts his grips. He shifts control from the opponent's wrist to their knee and uses his other hand to scoop the opponent's armpit. This simultaneous control allows Lucas to bring his knee in, elevate the opponent, and quickly transition to a back take. Alternatively, Lucas shows that he can stay on the same side and use his arms underneath the opponent's armpits to bump them forward and get the sweep, then look to secure the back.
