Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to take the opponent down using the front head lock and a variation of an arm triangle. Lucas has the front head lock and he uses it to pull the opponent down and make them post on the mat. When the opponent posts on the mat, Lucas spins to the side and hooks the near side leg. While still controlling the head and the leg, Lucas pushes the opponent and takes him down. Lucas maintains his legs near the opponent’s to prevent the opponent from escaping. The opponent attempts to push Lucas’ leg. Lucas takes advantage of this to loop his arm under the neck. In this scenario, Lucas is not able to lock his arms together for the arm triangle. He switches the grip on his hand and goes for the s grip. This allows him to bring his elbow down and across the neck. As he presses down, he shifts his hips in and finishes the submission.
