Professor Lucas Lepri shows how to get a collar and arm choke when the opponent defends a cross choke. Lucas has the opponent in his closed guard and breaks down his posture. He starts to pull the same side lapel and feeds it to his other hand under the arm and over the shoulder. He now switches grips once again and feeds the lapel to the other hand. Lucas now has a cross collar grip. Lucas tries to reach over the shoulder to grab the material with his other hand but the opponent defends. Lucas instead pulls the opponent’s arm across and down. He hip escapes and then pulls on the collar grip and he presses against the opponent’s arm to get the choke.
