Half Guard Sweep Attempt to Side Control when Opponent Defends (Advanced)

Professor Lucas Lepri demonstrates how to get to the side control after attempting to sweep the opponent from the half guard when the opponent defends. Lucas has the opponent in his half guard and the opponent switches the base on Lucas. Lucas immediately comes up on his elbow and reaches for the belt over the opponent. He bridges and tries to sweep the opponent, but the opponent steps back and grips Lucas’ bottom leg preventing the sweep. Lucas instead falls on his shoulder and brings his other leg over the opponent to the other side. Lucas then secures the side control position.
