Professor Lucas Lepri teaches a self defense concept of maintaining distance when pushed to the ground. Lucas starts standing and the opponent moves in to push Lucas. Lucas reacts by stepping back with one foot to maintain his base. In a scenario where this isn’t possible, Lucas break falls and keeps his feet and hands up in a defensive position. If the opponent approaches, Lucas uses his legs to push the opponent back. If the opponent is able to close the distance, Lucas places one foot on the hip, elevates his own hips and uses his other leg to push the opponent away. From here, Lucas does a technical stand up and keeps his distance once he is standing.
