Professor Lucas Lepri teaches a variation of an omoplata attempt to the back take, when the opponent tries to step over. Lucas controls the cross sleeve and under hooks the same side leg with his other arm. He raises his hips and starts going for the omoplata. The opponent tries to defend by stepping over Lucas. Lucas grips the back of the pants and then releases the omoplata arm so he can slide both of his legs behind the opponent’s. Lucas pushes the legs away and takes the back. If the opponent tries to stand up, then Lucas comes up and controls the cross collar. He then slides a hook in and rolls the opponent to the side so he can take the back.
