Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to take the opponent down after countering a single leg. The opponent goes for a single leg and Lucas immediately counters by gripping the top of the back and the same side leg gripping next to the knee. He pushes with the hand on the back and pulls on the knee to take the opponent down. In this variation, the opponent keeps gripping Lucas’ leg and turns into him. Lucas sits on the opponent’s hips and steps back and over with his other leg. He now reaches for the cross collar and uses that grip to force the opponent to turn. Lucas now steps back over and uses the knee cut to pass. If Lucas is not able to reach for that initial cross collar, then he can go for the kimura or armbar from that position.
