Professor André Gois teaches how to escape from the X guard. The opponent has André in their X guard. André starts to escape by pressing his outside foot against the opponent’s leg. This hinders the opponent’s ability to hook the foot and allows André to balance better. André now grips the opponent’s top leg and pulls it up. This removes one of the hooks from the X guard. André kicks his back leg forward and then immediately back to escape the other hook. Once he clears the leg, André goes for the knee on belly position.
