Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to escape from the half guard position and get to the knee shield. Lucas is in the opponent's half guard and starts to defend by hiding his bottom elbow to prevent the opponent from isolating it. Lucas now brings his other arm in front of the opponent’s face placing his hand on the shoulder and his forearm under the chin to frame. He now hip escapes to create enough space for him to slide his knee inside, across the opponents hips. He then pushes with that leg and his arms to push the opponent away. Lucas now raises his leg up the torso and grips the collar, leaving him in the knee shield position.
