Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to sweep the opponent using the lasso with de la riva. Lucas starts with the opponent in his closed guard. He makes sure to control both sleeves. He then opens the closed guard and places both feet on the hips. Lucas shifts his hips to the side and slides that same side leg over the opponent’s arm to get the lasso position. The opponent reacts by getting off the knees and starts to take a step forward. Lucas immediately reacts by moving the lasso leg to the de la riva position while still maintaining the lasso. He shifts his hips once again to lock the opponent in. Lucas now posts with his free leg on the mat as he brings the opponent’s arm across. He pushes off the foot to sweep the opponent over. The opponent lands with his arm extended and Lucas now pulls on the arm and gets the armbar submission.
