Professor Lucas Lepri teaches some concepts on how to escape and pass when the opponent has the de la riva and lasso. The opponent starts with the de la riva and lasso control. Lucas starts to escape by pushing the de la riva leg down near the knee. As he is pushing the leg down, he also uses his own knee to force the opponent to open that leg. Lucas, by dropping his knee to the mat over the opponent’s leg, creates enough space where he can then bring his other knee in. For a split second, Lucas places both of his knees on the opponent’s leg. He then immediately reaches over, hopping over the leg and clubs the back. He maintains shoulder pressure over the opponent’s neck to prevent the opponent from coming back. From here, Lucas is then able to move to the side and go for the knee on belly.
