Professor André Gois shows how to pass after taking the opponent down with the Ouch Gari. André starts by controlling the collar and breaking the opponent’s grip. He pulls the opponent in to close the distance. André moves in and circles his near side leg behind the opponent’s. As he circles the leg in, he drops his knee to the ground and pushes the opponent back. This motion takes the opponent down. Once the opponent is on the mat, André moves his far side leg in and uses his knee to block the opponent from closing the guard. André now drives forward, pushing the opponent’s leg down and sliding his own knee thru to the mat. He then uses his other leg to post on the mat. The opponent is using both arms to push André away. André uses his chest pressure to break the opponent’s framing. Once they are chest to chest, André connects his hands together and slides his knee out to pass to the side control.
