Mount Control to Kata Gatame Submission (Fundamentals)

Description

Professor André Gois shows how to get the Kata Gatame submission, transitioning from the mount. André starts with the mount position on the opponent and grips the cross collar. The opponent attempts to defend and André takes advantage of the situation and pushes the elbow across to trap the arm. André maintains the mount position and now brings his other arm near the opponent’s head. He releases the grip on the collar and slides that arm under the outside of the opponent’s neck to connect his hands together. Once his hands are connected, he moves his legs off the mount and to the side. This allows André to apply a lot of pressure on the opponent where he finishes with the head and arm choke.
