Description

Professor Lucas Lepri shows how to perform a butterfly sweep by controlling the opponent’s belt. Instead of using traditional grips for the butterfly sweep, in this technique Lucas reaches for the opponent’s belt and grips it in the middle. He explains how this grip allows for more control of the opponent in the case of them trying to move forward. Lucas can extend his arm and use his elbow on the chest to control the opponent. To continue with the sweep, Lucas now grips the sleeve with his same side hand. He pulls the opponent in using the belt grip, places his elbow on the mat and raises the opponent up with his butterfly hook. Lucas sweeps the opponent over in a diagonal direction instead of the side.
