Description

Professor Andre Gois teaches how to get the omoplata after attempting an armbar from the closed guard, using the opponent’s lapel to trap the arm. Andre has the opponent in his closed guard and pulls the lapel out. He then brings the lapel over the opponent's arm and grips it with his opposite side hand. He uses his other hand to cross grip the collar. In this scenario, the opponent defends with his arm. Andre gives up on the armbar attempt and slides his hand under the arm to make the opponent post it down. From here, Andre brings his knee up to block the opponent and then transitions to the omoplata submission.
