Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to escape from the cross collar choke before the opponent is able to lock the elbows in. Lucas is in the opponent’s closed guard and the opponent goes for the cross collar grips but is not yet able to lock the elbows in. Before the opponent starts to pull Lucas, Lucas defends by immediately sliding his arm in between both of the opponent’s arms. From here, Lucas can use his other hand to post on the opponent so he can then break the grips. Lucas can also use both arms to post on the opponent to keep defending and then escape.
