Professor Andre Gois teaches how to get the armbar submission from the closed guard, using the opponent’s lapel to trap the arm. Andre has the opponent in his closed guard and pulls the lapel out. He then brings the lapel over the opponent's arm and grips it with his opposite side hand. He uses his other hand to cross grip the collar. Andre starts to climb his legs up to set up the armbar. The grip on the collar is then released so it could be used to push the opponent’s head away. Andre now brings his leg over the head while still controlling the lapel to finish the armbar.
