Professor Lucas Lepri shows a back take escape when in the turtle position. The opponent begins with one hook in and a seatbelt grip while Lucas is in the turtle position. Lucas protects his neck with one hand and uses the other hand on the knee of the opponent’s hook. Lucas rolls his opponent over the shoulder opposite the hook and uses his leg to stop the opponent from dragging him to the other side. Lucas places his head on the mat and switches his grips, gripping the material on the pants of the hook with the same-side hand and protecting his neck with the other hand. Lucas kicks his leg free of the hook, moves his body perpendicular to his opponent’s body, and bridges on top of the opponent. To prevent the opponent from retaking the back, Lucas turns his hips and uses his knee to block the opponent’s hips as he comes up to complete the transition to side control.
