Professor Lucas Lepri shows how to escape an opponent's back attack and counter with a waiter sweep to back take. When the opponent threatens from the back with one hook and a seatbelt grip, Lucas controls the opponent's choking hand and rolls to escape. He drops his head to the mat and keeps his hips heavy to resist being dragged back to the other side as he establishes the half guard. Next, Lucas makes space to circle his arm underneath the opponent's leg for the deep half guard. He hides his hand to prevent the opponent from establishing an underhook while he grips the lapel with his other hand. He then bumps the opponent and scoops his ankle onto his biceps while crossing his legs. In this scenario, the opponent bases to resist being swept by the waiter sweep, so Lucas posts and turns aways slightly to pass the leg from his shoulder to his front side. He completes the sequence by quickly entering one hook and then dragging the opponent by the collar to establish the second hook and secure the back take with a seatbelt grip.
