Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to escape the berimbolo and get to the side control position. When the opponent starts to go for the berimbolo, Lucas posts on the mat with his hand. He makes sure to keep his hips off the mat. This allows Lucas to push the opponent into the deep half guard when they fully invert. Once in the deep half guard, Lucas loops his top arm under his own top leg to block the opponent’s hips. He now brings his other leg over and sits on the shoulders. From here, Lucas passes to the side control position.
