Professor Lucas Lepri shows how to take the back control, after attempting an armbar or sweep from the closed guard. Lucas has the opponent in his closed guard. The opponent has good posture and Lucas isn't able to break the opponent down. Lucas instead grips one of the arms and pulls it across, locking it under his own armpit. This allows Lucas to reach over the shoulder with his other hand and also allows him to raise his legs. In this scenario, Lucas is not able to get the armbar or sweep. Lucas instead pendulums his legs and comes up on his elbow. He then reaches for the back with his hand and pulls himself up. He shifts his hips and gets the back control. Lucas and also lock the body triangle from here.
