Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to get the omoplata from the closed guard even if the opponent rolls forward in an attempt to escape. Lucas breaks the opponent’s posture by gripping the same side collar with one hand and sliding his other hand under the other arm to reach the neck. He pulls the opponent in to break the posture. The grip on the collar is now used to feed the collar to the other hand. Lucas slides the hand that was controlling the neck, under his own leg and grips that collar. He now pushes the opponent and passes his leg over the shoulder to lock the omoplata. In this variation, the opponent rolls forward and Lucas follows. He then reaches under the arm to grip the collar. From this position Lucas can now finish the omoplata, or if the opponent rolls he follows and finishes from there.
