Professor Lucas Lepri explains how to submit an opponent in the closed guard using the cross choke. Beginning with his opponent in the closed guard, Lucas establishes a far-side deep collar grip with his palm facing out. Using this grip and his legs to break the opponent’s posture, Lucas hooks his other arm around the opponent’s head and grips the other collar with his thumb inside. With both grips established, Lucas opens his elbow to allow the opponent’s head to escape so he can finish the cross choke.
