Description

Professor Donovan Espinosa teaches how to get the cross collar choke from the closed guard by isolating the opponent’s arm. Donovan has the opponent in his closed guard and in this scenario, he can’t circle his arms under the opponent’s to break the posture. Donovan instead, reaches for the cross sleeve and slides his other hand under the arm to make the opponent break the grip. He now pulls the arm behind his back and slides his other hand under the arm to grip the opposite side collar. Donovan now lets go of the arm and uses that hand to grip the cross collar. From here, Donovan can now finish the cross collar choke.
