Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to take the back when he has the de la riva with lapel control. Lucas starts with the de la riva and pushes the opponent back to feed the lapel under the leg to this other hand. He uses his other hand to grip the collar. He now pushes the opponent once again to unbalance. Lucas drops his de la riva hook and switches the hand grip on the lapel. He now uses his legs to bring the opponent closer so he can reach the back of the pants. The opponent is now pulled back in an attempt to sweep. In this variation, when Lucas uses his hooks to push the opponent away, the opponent tries to come back. Lucas takes advantage of this and brings the opponent to the other side. He pushes his hooks out, making the opponent turn so he can now take the back.
