Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to get the knee bar or sweep, by using the matrix position. The opponent starts to engage with Lucas and Lucas immediately goes for the de la riva hooking his other foot under the other leg. He under hooks the de la riva leg with his arm and opens his legs so he can pendulum. He uses his other arm to grip the back of the calf. Lucas now brings his outside leg over the opponent’s leg and loops behind it, hooking the other leg with his foot. From this position, Lucas lifts his hips up and sweeps the opponent to get the knee bar. If the opponent starts to turn before Lucas can get the knee bar, then he just comes up instead.
