De La Riva to Sweep Variation when Opponent attempts to Pass (Advanced)

December 14, 2020 on 14:21 276 1

Description

Lucas is in the de la riva and the opponent starts to pass. Lucas immediately bumps the opponent forward with his leg and maintains the grip on the sleeve. When the opponent steps forward, Lucas releases the grip on the sleeve and grips under the leg. He now switches his hips so he can slide his inside shin under the leg. Lucas bumps the opponent once again so he can slide his other leg in and places it on the inner thigh. In this variation, Lucas is not able to push the opponent enough to sweep. The opponent defends by shifting his weight onto Lucas. Lucas releases the grip on the bottom leg and does a technical stand up. From here, Lucas can now reach the ankle to sweep, trap the leg with his foot, or go for the back take.
