Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to escape from a foot lock, after attempting to sweep the opponent. Lucas starts with the de la riva and controls the lapel so he can feed it to his other hand under the opponent’s leg. He now attempts to reach for the near side leg but the opponent defends by stepping back. Lucas istead, reaches for the other leg and pendulums so he can switch the lapel control to his other hand. He now pendulums in an attempt to sweep the opponent, but the opponent grips the far side leg to block. Lucas now spins underneath and reaches for the near side leg. In this scenario, the opponent starts to lean forward in an attempt to get Lucas in a foot lock. Lucas maintains the grip on the pants and the lapel to prevent the opponent from finishing the submission. He uses the grip on the pants to slide his bottom leg out and then controls both pants to escape and go to the side control position.
