Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to sweep the opponent, after attempting an armbar and the opponent defends. Lucas starts with the de la riva and controls the lapel so he can feed it to his other hand under the opponent’s leg. He now attempts to reach for the near side leg but the opponent defends by stepping back. Lucas istead, reaches for the other leg and pendulums so he can switch the lapel control to his other hand. In this scenario, the opponent grips Lucas’ far side leg preventing him from going to the armbar. Lucas spins underneath and reaches for the near side leg. When in position, he then releases the grip on the lapel and also grips the other leg. He now pushes the opponent while controlling both legs and does a technical stand up. Once standing, Lucas pulls the legs to sweep the opponent. Depending on the reaction, Lucas can start passing the guard, or go for the back control.
