Knee on Belly Escape to Open Guard (Fundamentals)

Description

Professor Lucas Lepri shows how to escape from the knee on belly position and transition to the open guard. The opponent has Lucas in the knee on belly position. Lucas places one hand on the opponent’s hip and the other on the knee. He bridges up and shrimps out as he pushes on the opponent’s knee and hip. When Lucas creates enough space, he brings his right foot in and repositions his grips to block the opponent’s shoulder with both of his hands. He then places his right foot on the opponent’s hip as he brings his other leg in and places it on the other hip. Lucas recomposes the open guard and makes sure to have grips on the opponent to keep him close and prevent him from posturing up or escaping.
