Professor Lucas Lepri shows how to get a toe hold submission, after attempting to get a straight ankle lock while the opponent is still standing. Lucas starts with the lasso and de la riva. He pulls the opponent in so he can grip the ankle of the de la riva side. The opponent now pushes the de la riva leg down and Lucas slightly turns his hips so he can slide his elbow behind the ankle. In this scenario Lucas is not able to slide his arm in between the ankle and his thigh to get the straight ankle lock. He instead, pushes the opponent to the side so he can transition to the one leg x. From this position, Lucas makes sure to keep the opponent’s foot off the mat. He grips the foot and is able to finish the toe hold against his own leg with just one hand. If the opponent does not tap, he then locks his hands together to finish the submission. Lucas also has the option of sweeping the opponent back to also get the submission.
