Professor Lucas Lepri shows how to get to the side control after a series of transitions that start with an omoplata attempt. Lucas starts in the closed guard and pulls the lapel out. He under hooks the opponent’s leg and feeds the lapel to that hand. Lucas starts to go for the omoplata while still controlling the lapel but the opponent prevents it by controlling Lucas’ head in a side control position. Lucas pushes the opponent over his head to escape from the position and rocks his legs. The opponent reacts by trying to come back and Lucas takes advantage of this and goes for the omoplata. Lucas uses the omoplata on the lapel to try and sweep the opponent but the opponent once again defends by postering up. Lucas hip escapes and hooks the foot with his own to sweep the opponent back. From here, Lucas transitions to the side control.
