Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to defend and prevent the opponent from using the worm guard. The opponent starts with the De La Riva and feeds the lapel under the leg to the outside hand. Lucas now reaches for the collar of the same side the opponent is gripping. He pulls open the collar so he can feed his opposite side hand in, with the palm facing down. The blade of the arm is placed on the opponent’s neck so it can be used to make the opponent turn away when pressure is applied. Lucas now posts his other hand on the mat and starts turning his knee in as he uses the grip on the collar to push the opponent away. The opponent releases the worm guard and Lucas is able to pass.
