Description

Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to sweep the opponent, when the opponent defends a triangle and then tries to defend a sweep by standing up. Lucas starts with the open guard controlling the opponent’s sleeves so he can position himself with the spider and half lasso. The opponent starts to apply pressure in an attempt to pass. Lucas drops his lasso side leg and uses it to push the opponent's leg back. He now immediately elevates both legs over the shoulder and under the arm, locking his feet together to go for the triangle choke. The opponent reacts by sitting back and places his knee in between Lucas’ legs to defend. Lucas unlocks his legs, places one foot on the bicep and shrimps out. He slides his outside foot behind the opponent’s knee and across the body. In this variation, the opponent defends by standing up. Lucas keeps the spider guard on one side and grips the bottom of the pants with his other hand. He pulls down on the arm and lifts with his other hand to make the opponent fall and post to the side. Once the opponent posts out, Lucas pulls his leg back and comes up while still controlling the sleeve. From here, Lucas cuts his knee and passes to the side control position.
