Professor Lucas Lepri shows how to prevent the opponent from passing his De La Riva guard by going to the X guard and using a technical stand up to get up. Lucas starts with the spider guard and a half lasso. Lucas then transitions to the De La Riva. As soon as Lucas places the foot on the hip, the opponent pushes it down and steps over in an attempt to start passing. Lucas bumps the opponent to make his step forward so he can under hook the leg. In this scenario, the opponent applies all his pressure on his knee. Lucas now slides his hand under the leg to push on the waist. Lucas bumps and lifts the leg so he can transition to the X guard. From the x guard, Lucas now pushes the opponent away and does a technical stand up with the foot still on the shoulder. Depending on the opponent’s reaction, Lucas can now go for the back or work on passing.
