Professor Lucas Lepri shows how to get an armbar, after attempting to sweep the opponent from the de la riva while having the lapel control. While standing, Lucas is controlling the arm and reaches for the lapel with his other hand to pull it out. He places the foot on the hip and drops down to the de la riva position while maintaining the lapel control. Lucas now sits up and feeds the lapel behind the leg to his other hand and goes back to the de la riva position. He adjusts his hips to the side so he can extend his near side leg out and reaches under the leg to switch the grip on the lapel to his other hand. Lucas raises his hips so he can place his leg over the opponent’s knee. He turns to the side and attempts to sweep the opponent, but the opponent defends by gripping the collar. Lucas now brings his outside leg in and uses the momentum to spin under the opponent. As he spins, he brings his leg over the head for the armbar. Lucas finishes the armbar by continuing to spin, flipping the opponent over. This same scenario can also be done if the opponent grips the pants instead of the lapel.
