Professor Lucas Lepri teaches a variation to escape from the straight ankle lock while in the 50/50 guard. The opponent locks the straight ankle and controls his own collar. Lucas controls the opponent’s sleeve and comes up. In this scenario, Lucas isn’t able to break the grip and the opponent rocks to the side so he can hook his foot on Lucas’ outside leg. As soon as the opponent hooks the leg, Lucas posts out with his outside hand and slides his foot in between the opponent’s legs. Lucas now pushes away and escapes.
