Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to prevent the opponent from locking the straight ankle lock. The opponent is in the straight ankle lock position and Lucas controls the collar by sliding his arm under the opponent’s knee. This prevents the opponent from turning to get the straight ankle. Lucas now turns in the opposite direction and bends his leg so he can come up. As he comes up, he makes sure his other leg is straight. If Lucas isn’t able to control the collar, then he can also hug the knee and prevent the ankle lock in the same way.
