Professor Andre Gois teaches how to get the triangle submission from the closed guard while controlling the lapel. Andre has the opponent in his closed guard and pulls the lapel out. He then brings the lapel over the opponent's arm and grips it with his opposite side hand. Andre then slides his other arm under the opponent’s to slide the arm out and make him post on the mat. He then uses that same arm to grip the lapel, leaving his other hand free. In this scenario, Andre pushes the arm away so he can slide his leg in. He then brings the leg over the shoulder and locks them together so he can finish with the triangle choke.
