Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to get an armbar from the closed guard, after attempting a shoulder lock. Lucas has the closed guard on the opponent. He grips the lapel with the same side hand and the same sleeve with his opposite side hand. He pulls the collar down and traps the elbow with his knee, preventing the opponent from pulling the arm out. Lucas lifts his other leg and raises it, setting his ankle near the back of the opponent's head. This motion also pushes the opponent slightly to the side. Lucas now moves the grip that was on the collar to the arm resulting with two grips over the same arm. Lucas attempts to get the shoulder lock but the opponent starts to defend by applying forward pressure. Lucas now slightly pushes the opponent back and slides his arm across to cup his own thigh. He slightly turns to the side and under hooks the near side leg with his other arm. From here, Lucas pushes the opponent back and brings his leg over the opponent. This move pushes the opponent down, where Lucas can finish with the armbar.
